Robin Trower, the dazzling English guitarist famous for his work in rock bands Procol Harum and his own Robin Trower Band, will perform at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts for the first time on October 3, 2025 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the Danny Zelisko Presents show go on sale Friday, June 6 at 10 a.m. at TheSmithCenter.com. Great seats start at just $41.

Trower’s career has seen him has plant flags all across the musical spectrum, filling virtually every role imaginable. He has been the driving force behind Sixties icons Procol Harum. He has filled stadiums as a solo performer. He has collaborated with the likes of Jack Bruce and Bryan Ferry. And his current work still crackles with invention.

Trower’s signature sound, often characterized by heavy use of the fuzz box and expressive, fluid soloing, helped define the rock genre during the 1970s and beyond.

After leaving Procol Harum, Trower launched a solo career in the mid-’70s, with 1974 album Bridge of Sighs signaling a critical and commercial breakthrough. Mixing blues, rock and psychedelic influences – and showcasing his distinctive guitar work – it earned Trower a loyal following he retains to this day.

Trower’s music blends the emotional depth of the blues with a more experimental approach to guitar tones and textures, influencing a wide range of guitarists. His ability to convey deep emotion through his playing – often drawing comparisons to legends like Jimi Hendrix – set him apart in the world of rock guitarists. He’s known for his improvisational style, incorporating heavy vibrato and a mix of speed and subtlety.

“I play guitar every day, and just through messing around, ideas happen,” Trower says “I can never feel the songs coming, but all of a sudden you get a sliver of an idea and you think, “Oh, what’s this?”
