“The opportunity to bring Formula 1 racing to life through the artistic lenses of our students has been extraordinary,” said Brenda Larsen-Mitchell, Interim Superintendent of the Clark County School District. “Their thoughtful interpretations include the beauty of the city they live in with the lights, colors, and speed of Formula 1. We are thankful for this opportunity as it has inspired our students and allows their artwork to be seen worldwide.”
The ISI Artist Collective, co-founded by Dana Anderson, has a long history of supporting the Las Vegas art community. Since 2011, ISI has been a driving force in local art projects, from live shows to large-scale murals across the city, including notable works at Atomic Golf and Brendan Theaters in the Palms Casino. This partnership with the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. reflects both organizations’ dedication to showcasing Las Vegas’ imaginative talent on a global stage, giving a unique opportunity for local artists to reach an international audience through the world-renowned F1 event.
The featured artists, Brett Rosepiler, Matt Murphy, also known as Matt Black and “Black57”, and Richard Ochoa, each bring distinctive artistic perspectives shaped by years of dedication to their craft:
- A lifelong Las Vegas resident, Brett Rosepiler has spent more than a decade creating vibrant murals and tattoo art that captures the city’s spirit. His work for the race includes bold colors and flowing movement, designed to mirror the excitement of F1 and the energy of Las Vegas.
- Matt Black, who began as a graffiti artist at age 13, has been a public artist in Las Vegas since 2009. Known for his neon-inspired style, Matt’s mural is designed to put viewers in the driver’s seat, capturing the intense motion, action, and speed of an F1 race.
- Richard Ochoa, a New York-born artist now based in Las Vegas, brings a background of blending illustration, graffiti, and graphic design. His mural is a personal homage, reflecting his family’s motorsport roots, and symbolizes the connection between art and racing.
“We are so excited to see the perspectives of Formula 1 in Las Vegas that both our local artists and students have brought to life,” said Lori Nelson-Kraft, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. “These works capture the spirit of Las Vegas in a way that only local talent can, bringing an authentic vibrancy and connection to the race experience.”
These collaborations reflect the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc.’s commitment to uplifting the local arts community by providing an incredible platform for both students and seasoned artists to connect with a global audience. For these students and muralists, the Grand Prix represents a unique opportunity to elevate their work and share their creativity with the world, blending art and motorsport in a celebration of Las Vegas’ creative energy.
