Contest Commemorates 65th Anniversary of Iconic “Welcome to Las Vegas” Sign
Winning Couple to Receive Customized Sign Replica by YESCO
On Thursday, July 25, the Wedding Capital of the World™ and YESCO announced the winners of the “Your Sign of LoVe” photo contest. Held to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign, the contest invited couples who married in Las Vegas to share their photos in front of the landmark on social media.
During the unveiling, it was revealed that winners Daykota Schiffelers and Kevin Schleipfenbauer of The Netherlands will receive the customized replica of the Welcome sign made by YESCO, the 104-year-old company that owns and maintains the Las Vegas Boulevard landmark and is known for creating many of Las Vegas’ most internationally recognizable signs.
In May, nearly 450 photos were submitted from couples across the globe, from newlyweds to partners with decades of wedded bliss behind them. The winning image embodying love and marriage in Las Vegas was selected by the Wedding Capital of the World™ team.
In honor of YESCO and the “Welcome” sign’s role as an iconic symbol of love for thousands of couples, Clark County Clerk Lynn Marie Goya also presented YESCO executive vice president Jeff Young with the “Heart of Clark County” award. This new award, bestowed by the Clark County Clerk’s Office, recognizes individuals and organizations who have made substantial contributions toward elevating the destination’s profile as the Wedding Capital of the World.
“Seeing the sheer number of heartfelt entries from around the world has been astounding,” said Goya. “The photos we received highlight just how special our city is as a wedding destination. We are proud to honor couples who wed in Las Vegas and the lasting memories they’ve created here.
“Receiving the ‘Heart of Clark County’ award is a significant honor that highlights YESCO’s dedication to maintaining the timeless ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas’ sign,” said Young. “We were also delighted to craft a one-of-a-kind replica of the sign for the winning couple, celebrating their love and the magic of Las Vegas.”
