NFL Legends Rashad Jennings & Morlon Greenwood Join Las Vegas Super Bowl Host Committee, national non-profit GENYOUth, Clark County School District, and USDA to Celebrate Culmination of Super Bowl LVIII Initiative to Tackle Nevada Youth Food Insecurity
WHO: NFL Legends Rashad Jennings and Morlon Greenwood, along with nationally renowned chef Lasheeda Perry, will be joined by a Clark County School District representative, USDA Food and Nutrition Service Administrator Cindy Long, and officials from GENYOUth, Las Vegas Super Bowl LVIII Host Committee, Frito-Lay, Quaker, PepsiCo Foundation, Kroger’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation in partnership with Smith’s, and Dairy Council of Nevada.
WHAT/WHY: Rashad Jennings and Morlon Greenwood are taking Super School Meals into the end zone. In the run up to Super Bowl LVIII, they and other dignitaries are celebrating the completion of a major community service initiative that has equipped 58 high-need Nevada schools with Grab and Go school meal equipment, including mobile meal carts and milk coolers, which is helping to increase access to over 8.5 million school meals for almost 32,000 Nevada students.
1 in 5 Nevada children is food insecure. 81% of Nevada students qualify for free/reduced price school meals based on HH income, and Nevada is among the top 10 states with the greatest % increase (9.1) in the number of Free/Reduced-Price breakfast participants.
