Nevada Ballet Theatre Closes its 22-23 Performance Season With THE WIZARD OF OZ

I was very impressed with “The Wizard of Oz” Ballet presented by the Nevada Ballet Theatre, it was a very enjoyable rendition of the ago-old story of Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Tinman, Cowardly Lion and the rest. The dancing was excellent across the board. Toto received the largest applause by far. We all wondered how he could always come to the right place, on or off-stage, every single time. The special effects to show the tornadoes, movement of the house where Dorothy lived, and the perceived distance between Oz and Kansas were very well done, as well as the colorful costumes and dance moves.

The ballet was absolutely amazing in any way. The Wizard of Oz is a truly magical ballet, filled with all the familiarity of the classic movie, plus all the spectacle worthy of Las Vegas. It was the perfect finale to NBT’s 2022-23 Season. Choreographer Septime Webre’s wildly popular (Alice in Wonderland) made Vegas audiences jump to their feet and roar with delight in 2019, and now he has brought us Emerald City to enjoy. Heartfelt and adventurous with over 50 dancers in hundreds of costumes and hundreds of pointed shoes some of them made of rubies! The Wizard of Oz was not your ordinary ballet experience.
