The Plaza Hotel & Casino will celebrate both summer and the start of school as it welcomes Clark County School District (CCSD) Superintendent Jhone Ebert and award-winning educators this Friday, Aug. 14 as the special guest TNT Ignitors for the Welcome to the Weekend Summer Friday Fireworks show at 9:10 p.m.
The Plaza welcomes all local teachers and staff to come to the free rooftop pool party this Friday night to celebrate with Superintendent Ebert and the five distinguished CCSD educators who will be TNT Ignitors:
- Yasmeen Bekhit – New Educator of the Year
- Chelsea Miller – New Educator of the Year
- Brittany Ward – Assistant Principal of the Year
- Melanie Kakaio – Support Professional of the Year
- Sara Boucher – STEM Teacher of the Year
“While the start of school may typically mark the end of summer vacation, it is still a summer party at the Plaza every Friday this month with our Welcome to the Weekend Summer Friday Fireworks shows,” said Jonathan Jossel, CEO of the Plaza Hotel & Casino. “This Friday, we are excited to celebrate with Superintendent Ebert and five distinguished educators who have won awards from CCSD for their commitment and excellence to our public education system.”
Superintendent Ebert, the CCSD honorees, and their guests will be hosted by the Plaza on its rooftop pool deck all evening, culminating with the educators pressing the TNT Ignitor button to symbolically start the Friday fireworks show that has become a staple of summer in downtown Las Vegas.
The public can watch the Welcome to the Weekend Friday Fireworks Show for free from the rooftop pool deck or in front of the Plaza on Main Street, which will be closed to vehicular traffic during the show for viewing the fireworks from Carson Avenue to Ogden Avenue.
The Plaza’s fireworks are dependent on weather conditions and are subject to change or cancellation. Updates will be available on the Plaza’s social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram and X.
